China's waterborne exports to the U.S. continues to outdistance its Asian neighbors as the trickle
of manufacturers migrating to China from the rest of Asia intensifies. In 2000, China's 3 million TEUs
of containerized exports to the U.S. were three times that of Hong Kong and easily surpassed
those of Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
