PIERS Trade Intelligence
The core of the PIERS database is detailed transaction information gathered from the bills of lading and manifests documenting the import-export trade that begins or ends at U.S. ports. PIERS verifies and enhances this data to create reliable intelligence about exporters, importers, shippers, cargoes, seagoing traffic, and regional markets - available through these products:
- AMS Database Search and Reports. The PIERS U.S. Customs Automated Manifest System (AMS) database offers 25 standard reports, available as downloads or on CD, on U.S. imports, including importers, suppliers, market share, commodities, and much more. You can browse the archives or query the database for such specific information as original commodity detail, marks and numbers, shipper, consignee, and notify party for a particular cargo.
- Export Bulletin. This complete reference includes such detail as the exporter's name, city and state; the export cargo's port of departure and destination; the export commodity, weight, quantity, unit of measure, and PIERS product code; and ship line and vessel name. Monthly reports, available in nine different formats, are available on CD. Use the online search engine to track activity in particular cargoes, lines or ports.
- U.S. & Foreign Company Profiles. A 12-month summary covers an individual company's trading activity, with read-outs on its top carriers, commodities, U.S. ports, export markets, and more. PIERS includes contact and background information from Dun & Bradstreet and other sources where possible for a detailed dossier.
PIERS International Databases
PIERS Latin American and Asia-Pacific databases are built to the same high standards of accuracy, reliability, immediacy, and comprehensiveness attained by our U.S. import-export database.
- Latin American Database. PIERS agents collect and verify transaction detail from the import-export documents filed in Latin America's leading ports in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Only PIERS has access to vessel manifests from Mexico's ports. Reports are delivered monthly or quarterly, in standard or customized formats, in hardcopy, on tape, or disk. Mexican import-export reports are also available on CD.
- Asia-Pacific Database. The PIERS Korean database provides manifest details of intra-Asian and Asian-European import-export trade. And, through a partner in China, PIERS offers access to detailed information on over nine million import-export transactions - by air and overland as well as by sea - documented by China's Customs authority each year. [Note: PIERS Chinese data does NOT include Hong Kong.]
- Trade Finance Database. PIERS has identified from its import-export data the information most often requested by trade finance institutions:
- U.S. exporter-importer name and address
- D&B D-U-N-S Number (when available)
- Foreign exporter name and address
- Notify party (imports only)
- Bank name (imports only)
- Country of destination or origin
- Number of shipments
- Number of financed shipments
- Estimated shipment dollar value
- Aggregated commodity descriptions - four-digit harmonized code
The PIERS Trade Finance quarterly report is available on CD. Use this data to find potential client companies based on location, industry, products shipped, as well as the size, estimated value, and unfinanced percentage of shipments.
